Decades of Dedicated Advocacy as an Independent Physician Association 

Southwest Medical IPA was formed in 1995 to fulfill the critical goal of creating an organization to represent the local independent physician. During a period when rapid corporate consolidation began shifting the medical landscape, a dedicated group of local doctors recognized the urgent need for a unified coalition. They established our Independent Physician Association to help negotiate, maintain, and manage preferred provider agreements, ensuring that private practices had the administrative leverage required to survive without sacrificing their clinical autonomy.

From day one, the foundational rule of our organization was absolute independence. To ensure completely unbiased advocacy, the association was designed to receive zero funding from any hospital, insurance network, or outside corporation. Funded entirely by its members, this pure structure has allowed our Independent Physician Association to remain fiercely loyal to our physicians and the patients under their care for over three decades.
